Why TON for crypto payments

TON — The Open Network, originally designed by Telegram and now run by the TON Foundation — turns a messenger into a checkout. A customer sitting on a bridged "USDC on TON" is better routed to a network where Circle issues directly — Ethereum, Polygon, or one of the L2s.

How confirmations work on TON

TON produces masterchain blocks in well under a second. Because a committed masterchain block is final by the network's own rule, Paymos settles a Jetton transfer on one masterchain confirmation rather than deepening the wait by ticket size the way it must on a probabilistic chain like Ethereum . Cross-shard transfers take marginally longer to land than same-shard ones, yet a retail payment still clears in seconds at any USD value.

Fees and gas

The customer pays the network fee in TON. A typical USDT Jetton transfer costs a few cents. Telegram Wallet handles this automatically for in-app users, deducting from the user's TON balance; external wallets like Tonkeeper or MyTonWallet show the gas line item before signing.

What we don't do on TON

We don't accept USDC, DAI, USD1, or XAUT on TON — Circle, MakerDAO, World Liberty Financial, and Tether Gold haven't issued them natively here. We don't accept bridge wrappers. A USDT Jetton payment stays USDT on your balance — Paymos never quietly swaps it for another token or for fiat — and it joins your single USDT balance rather than a TON-only one, so you can settle it out on whichever network suits you . Can my customer pay from inside Telegram directly?

Yes. The Telegram Wallet (built into the Telegram app) sends the USDT Jetton natively. The user opens your Paymos hosted-checkout URL, taps the TON network, copies the deposit address or scans the QR, and authorizes the payment inside Telegram Wallet. The whole flow takes under 30 seconds typically.

What's the fee for sending USDT on TON?

A few cents of TON, paid by the customer's wallet. Telegram Wallet abstracts this — for users transacting inside the in-app wallet, gas is paid from the TON balance automatically. External wallets like Tonkeeper show the gas line item before signing.

Are TON USDT and Tron USDT interchangeable?

Conceptually they represent the same Tether liability, but mechanically they are different on-chain assets — you cannot send TON USDT to a Tron address (or vice versa).
