Why Tron for crypto payments
Tron carries the largest single share of daily dollar-stablecoin volume of any blockchain. Almost all of it is USDT, almost all of it sits in retail wallets and exchange-withdrawal flows — CIS, South-East Asia, Latin America, parts of Africa. If your buyers withdraw USDT from a centralized exchange, Tron is the first network they touch, because it is usually the cheapest withdrawal option offered.
For a merchant, that means one thing: enable Tron and you catch the retail stablecoin flow without forcing customers to convert assets or move funds across chains. Skip it and you ask exchange-native users to do extra work to pay you.
Supported stablecoins on Tron
USDT (TRC20) is the only stablecoin Paymos accepts on Tron — the panel above shows it. Circle never issued USDC on Tron natively, Sky (formerly MakerDAO) never issued DAI there, and Paymos does not take third-party bridge wrappers in their place. If a customer holds bridged "USDC on Tron", the practical fix is to route them to a network where the asset is canonical — Polygon, Arbitrum, or Ethereum.
How confirmations work on Tron
Confirmation depth scales with the invoice amount. Tron produces a block every ~3 seconds, and Paymos sets how many of those blocks to wait by the payment's USD value at the moment it lands — a small retail ticket clears in seconds, a high-value transfer waits the deepest tier. That deep tier sits at Tron's solidification standard, the depth past which a confirmed transfer is treated as irreversible, so a large payment is guarded against the rare deeper reorg rather than cleared on a shallow count. The 3-second blocks keep even the deep wait short; the ticket size, not the chain, decides how many of them a payment sits through.
Fees and gas
The customer's wallet burns TRX for energy, not USDT — Paymos never deducts gas from the invoice amount. An un-staked TRC20 transfer burns roughly $3 in TRX as of 2026, which makes Tron the most expensive inbound network we support. If a wallet has zero TRX, the transaction fails before broadcasting; Paymos hosted checkout warns about this so customers know to hold a small TRX balance alongside USDT.
Paymos pricing on Tron is the same as every other network — 1.0% Standard, 0.3% Enterprise on request. Acceptance, sweep gas, and reorg-safety buffers sit inside that fee — no separate gas line on your invoice or settlement. On withdrawal we take 0 commission and charge a reduced network fee, below what the chain itself costs, and cover the difference ourselves.
Compared to a typical crypto gateway
Most crypto gateways treat Tron as one entry on a list and apply a single confirmation count regardless of amount. Paymos picks the depth by risk: a $25 invoice does not wait the same as a $25,000 one, and a large transfer is held to Tron's solidification standard instead of clearing on a shallow count. Every state change posts a signed X-Webhook-Signature: t={timestamp},v1={hmac_hex} callback; an unreachable endpoint gets 11 delivery attempts on exponential backoff before Paymos gives up. Idempotency is yours: pass external_order_id on the invoice and a replay returns the same order, never a duplicate charge — no extra header to track. And the Developers-tab playground fires real requests against your own keys, the live API rather than a mock.
What we don't do on Tron
We don't accept third-party bridged "USDC on Tron" or "DAI on Tron" wrappers — neither is Circle- or Sky-issued, and a merchant reasonably expects canonical redemption. A USDT payment on Tron stays USDT on your balance: Paymos never auto-swaps it or off-ramps it to fiat behind your back, and it joins your one USDT balance rather than a Tron-only pot . And the TRX a wallet burns for energy is the sender's to fund — that's a Tron protocol cost, not something Paymos tops up.
Frequently asked questions
Does my customer pay the network fee on Tron?
Yes. The TRX burned for energy comes from the customer's wallet, not from your USDT. Cost as of 2026 is roughly $3 per TRC20 transfer for an un-staked wallet — the highest inbound gas of any network we support. Paymos does not subsidize this — it is a Tron protocol cost paid at broadcast time.
What happens if a customer sends ERC20 USDT to my Tron invoice address?
The transaction lands on Ethereum at an address nobody controls — the address string happens to be valid on EVM chains but the underlying key derivation is different. The funds are effectively lost. Paymos hosted checkout locks the network and address together; custom integrations should always show the network prominently at the deposit step.
Can I withdraw USDT from Paymos to a Tron exchange address?
Yes. Any Paymos withdrawal in USDT or USDC can target a TRC20 address. We take 0 commission on the withdrawal and charge a reduced network fee — below the chain's own cost — so you never separately fund TRX energy.
Why doesn't Paymos accept USDC on Tron?
Circle does not natively issue USDC on Tron. Anything labeled "USDC TRC20" is a third-party bridge wrapper with different redemption mechanics, and Paymos does not accept bridge variants for stablecoins. If your customer holds USDC on Tron, route them to a chain where USDC is canonical — Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, or Ethereum.
What if Tron itself goes offline?
It has happened once at the protocol level: on 2 November 2020 a malicious contract halted block production for about two hours until super representatives shipped a patched node. If production stalls for any reason, Paymos scanner workers detect the stall and hold Tron confirmations until blocks resume — a payment never reads as final off a halted chain. Pending invoices then confirm late once the network recovers or expire on their TTL, and no balance is affected.
